A Labor of Love

As the air becomes crisp and our outdoor events come to a close… We are excited to welcome our patrons back to our home, the MAC, in downtown Milford.

The MAC presents over 220 experiences in the arts each and every year. As a 501c3, the MAC is almost 50 years old, presenting and supporting the arts since 1972. All of these events are organized by a small staff of three.

It is a Labor of Love, for the Heart of the Arts. . .

However, 220+ events will only continue to happen if we have passionate and involved volunteers who understand “the MAC experience”. We love our volunteers.

We all read the news about our labor force not returning to the jobs they once had. This has been felt most strongly in the Hospitality industry. Our restaurants, airlines, hotels and resorts, retail, our tourism destinations.  And - our venues that support and present the arts: museums, theaters, stages, galleries. . . we are struggling to find the help we need. Yet our people, our patrons, our supporters all want to enjoy every aspect our industry gives. And gives, and gives, and gives. . .

Lately people, our patrons, are frustrated because the experience is not what they have come to expect. And to be honest, it’s also not what our industry wants to present. We have expectations, too. And while the MAC needs you to be supportive, patient, and understanding - we are also looking for energetic and valued volunteers who can give as little or as much as they can; jump in on the day of an event with some heavy lifting, help plan an event or program series, or help behind the scenes selling tickets, cleaning up, or hanging an exhibit. We are excited for all of our plans, but we need your help to make it all happen, and to meet our high expectations for your best experience. Always.

Every consideration has been taken to make sure our events are safe, excellent, and offer everyone unique opportunities to experience something they cannot otherwise see or hear. The variety of musical genre, plays, activity, and exhibit themes gives artists and patrons alike occasions for communal growth and connection.

Art opens our minds and hearts.

Art instills creativity and innovation.

Art is a tangible source of energy.

Contact us to be a MAC volunteer! It’s easy, it’s fun, you’ll meet great people, and sometimes, you’ll have the best seat in the house!
