Farewell & Thank You

Dear Friends,

I always dreamed of living in a community just like Milford. A place on the water with unique little shops and restaurants that you can’t find anywhere else. A place where people feel like brothers and sisters from the minute you meet them. A place with a “Green” and a gazebo (or bandstand, according to some folks) ripped right from a Hallmark movie set. A place that is bursting with energy and excitement and creativity all day, every day. So, when I moved here four years ago, you might understand why I labeled my new home Unicornland.

Living in Unicornland would have been quite enough, but I received a gift on top of a gift when I was offered a dream role to serve my dream community. Turns out, I arrived in Milford at the perfect time back in 2017. Milford Arts Council needed help and I had a burning passion for the arts and a fresh Masters in Arts Management. I couldn’t have written a better script. I couldn’t have choreographed a more graceful dance. I couldn’t have painted a more beautiful painting or sung a more melodic song.

I’m not a ‘real’ artist (as evidenced by my handiwork above) like all the talented people around me, but serving Milford Arts Council and this community for the past 3 ½ years has made me feel like one. I got to create, collaborate, connect, express, grow, transform, inspire and be inspired. For me, the MAC has been true to its mission to enlighten, enrich, and entertain. Through the MAC, I have received these gifts, as well as some wonderful memories and very dear friends.

Please continue to support the MAC as it enters its 50th year. The Arts and creativity are so vital to the community - infusing life, light, and energy into its soul every day.

In January, we proclaimed 2021 as The Year of Creative Energy* https://milfordarts.org/our-blog/2020/12/12/what-if If you haven’t already, I hope you take the challenge to see this year through an artist’s eyes - a blank canvas just waiting to be transformed into a masterpiece. Join in the creation of the most beautiful collective “work of art” known as 2021.

This is what I plan to do for the remainder of 2021. And always.

I will also continue my informal, self-declared role as everyone’s best audience, so I’ll definitely be seeing you around Unicornland.

I take a final humble bow with so much gratitude in my heart for the Heart of the Arts. Thank you so very much.
