Sure, we’re physically distancing, but in many ways we're more connected than ever. This ‘small city with big heart’ has risen to its reputation as acts of kindness and encouragement, creativity, and Springtime beauty collectively cloak the darkness.

Pandemic be damned, there’s still creativity everywhere!

We’d like to shine a light on just a few of the ways that Milford citizens and small businesses have brightened life amid a global crisis.

One generous citizen decided to gather up all of her extra art supplies and put them out on a table in front of her house so that families could use them during their stay-at-home learning time. They were scooped up in short order, and we’re sure there are many grateful parents in town.

Pantochino Productions has produced a series of funny, fun, and educational live videos for families to enjoy every Tuesday and Thursday at 2pm. You do not want to miss Victoria Sautee as she helps all the little kiddies and their families “learn stuff,” dearie.

Milford City of Compassion sent their troops out in force this week to Chalk the Walks, sending messages of inspiration to the city.

Of course, a city in crisis is not a city in crisis without a purple and pink unicorn trouncing around town, right?

Those Little Libraries? Some of them have been temporarily converted into Little Pantries for those in need. How cool is that? Feel free to drop off a few cans and boxes the next time you pass The Firehouse Gallery at 81 Naugatuck Avenue, Walnut Beach.

You’ll find more Kindness Rocks than ever these days, scattered up and down the seventeen miles of Milford shoreline with messages such as ‘Be Brave,’ ‘Love Wins,’ and ‘Be Kind’

There are lots of folks sewing masks like crazy, and who better to push them out in bulk than Alterations & Design by Milavi. The reusable masks are going to Milford Hospital and Montowese Health and Rehabilitation Center. They can be cleaned and sanitized, and have a filtering element that can be replaced.

Bees Knees Cafe cooked up a plan to help Yale-New Haven Hospital by delivering frittatas, granola parfaits, and bagels to three COVID-19 units. No one knows how to ‘bee kind’ like the folks at Bees Knees.

Finally, the MAC is using its kiosks on Railroad Avenue and Broad Street of offer messages such as ‘Explore Your Inner Creative,’ ‘Create Together,’ and ‘The Arts Will Prevail,’ reminding people that the arts and creativity are a constant comfort in times of crisis.

It’s so true, friends! Your creativity, coupled with your kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity, has proven that Milford is the best place to be during a crisis. And for that, we say BRAVO!
