Call for Artist in Residence

Milford Arts Council’s Firehouse Gallery is the home for its Artist in Residence.

The residency was created with the intent of supporting aspiring or professional artists who are working to further establish their careers. MAC sponsorship of individual artists is intended to provide temporary support through the provision of low cost housing and studio space as a transitional opportunity. This opportunity is for 1-2 years, and no longer than 4 years (*the sublease contract is reviewed yearly).

The 750 square foot residency was designed for artist’s use and includes studio space within the dwelling. The one bedroom apartment also includes a living/dining/kitchen area, bath and the art studio. The grounds include off street parking, a large terrace and a bicycle rack. The monthly cost, which includes WiFi, heat, hot water and electricity, will be $1000/single, $1250/couple (with deposit of one month’s rent).

Please note that the Firehouse building is a historic site with the apartment in a second floor walk-up. It is not ADA compliant.

It is expected that the “artist in residence” will be active in the maintenance of the grounds and facility and therefore should be able to climb stairs, shovel, bend over, and lift up to 25lbs.

Maintenance items include, but are not exclusive to:
