About the Firehouse Gallery

HISTORY

In 2000, the Milford Arts Council and the City of Milford collaborated to repurpose the former Walnut Beach Fire Company #3 building, a historic station serving the community since 1920, into a hub for arts in the Walnut Beach area. The Firehouse Gallery, which opened its doors in 2002, boasts around 1,000 square feet of luminous gallery space, a studio on the lower level, and a second-floor area comprising offices and a residential unit for the Artist in Residence program.

RENOVATION

The gallery has undergone a recent renovation, both inside and out, featuring a striking mural by artist John Paul O’Grodnick. Today, the Firehouse Gallery is a bustling center for the arts, offering a diverse array of art exhibits, classes, workshops, demonstrations, and interactive experiences. Nestled in a lively arts and business district and just two blocks from the Long Island Sound, it is an iconic seaside attraction.
