Call For Directors
Eastbound Theatre
Milford Arts Council’s (MAC) Eastbound Theatre (EBT) in Milford, CT is currently in the process of selecting plays for our 32nd season. We welcome you to submit a proposal to direct for the 2026/2027 season.
A division of the MAC, Eastbound Theatre produces three main stage productions each season, performed at the MAC, which has a proscenium stage, computerized light board and audience seating capacity of approximately 100. Each main stage production runs for 3 weekends.
EBT welcomes all genres of shows: Classic and contemporary comedies, mysteries, thrillers, dramas and (with careful planning) the occasional small-scale musical.
To submit for consideration, your proposal should include:
- Your resume
- A list of the play(s) you wish to direct
- For each play listed: cast size, a brief synopsis, technical requirements that would work in our space, and a brief summary of your vision for the show. In addition, please include any potential difficulties with the show and your suggestions for addressing them.
- Please provide a link to your proposed script or an actual script copy to assist the reading committee in reviewing recommended shows.
- For musicals, please indicate potential musical director, choreographer, number of musicians and your estimated costs.
- Your performance time slot preference(s).
The performance time slots are:
- Slot 1: September/October, 2026
- Slot 2: February, 2027
- Slot 3: June, 2027
Summer Shakespeare. In addition to the three mainstage productions, EBT produces an outdoor Summer Shakespeare production as a 4th show. Directors are also being sought for the 2027 summer production to be held at Eisenhower Park in Milford. Scheduling will be finalized in coordination with the city but is anticipated to be the last weekend in July or an early August weekend. Those wishing to direct a Shakespeare production should provide the same information as requested for mainstage productions. Decisions about this production will be made after the mainstage season is announced.
EBT is a community theater. Members of professional theatrical unions should consult their union’s guidelines regarding restrictions.
Submissions are due by March 1, 2026.
