The Hartford Sound is a group of accomplished musicians with a repertoire filled with classic jazz, Latin jazz and original material that has been pleasing audiences for 10 years.

The band  formed in 2015 and debuted at Pittsburgh’s James Street Gastropub and Speakeasy.   This group of accomplished musicians from Connecticut has a repertoire that is filled with classic jazz, Latin jazz and original material that is sure to please jazz fans.

Emmett Bio

Emmett C Goods 

Dr. Emmett Goods is a trombonist and Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Rhode Island. He has been performing around the East Coast for over 25 years. As a performer Emmett has shared the stage with a wide variety of artists crossing over multiple genres. In the jazz arena he has shared the stage with Dr. Billy Taylor, Eddie Harris, Louie Bellson, Avery Sharpe, Wycliffe Gordon, Roger Humphries among others.

Damian Bio

Damian Curtis 

The oldest of three musical brothers, Damian (a.k.a. King Solomon) came through the Hartt School of Music in Hartford. He has been a mainstay on the Connecticut scene for over twenty-three years. A pianist of the highest caliber he performs all over the northeast doing jazz, Latin jazz/salsa, hip-hop, and more. Damian has played with Giovanni Hilgaldo, Patato Valdes, Andy Gonzales, David and Abraham, José Papo Rivera, Rubin Felix, Jackie Mclean, Nat Reeves, and Steve Davis, just to name a few.

Nelson Bio

Nelson Bello

Hartford, Connecticut native Nelson Bello is one of the premier percussionists to emerge from the Capital Region over the past twenty years. He came through The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts and The Hartford Conservatory. The music of the "Latin Diaspora" has been in Nelson's blood since the very beginning. While Nelson would consider his "main instrument" to be the conga drums, he is well-versed in all percussion instruments. He has collaborated with Damian, Zaccai and Luques Curtis, The Fort Apache Band, Paul Brown and other influential musical figures from Hartford.
