About the Festival

East/West PlayFest is a collaborative summer theatre event from MAC’s Eastbound Theatre and Westport Community Theatre, featuring five original, juried one-act plays selected from hundreds of national submissions—performed in both Milford and Westport, CT.

Performances

  • July 12 & 13 at 4 PM at the Milford Historical Society (outdoor)
  • July 18 & 19 at 7:30 PM at the Westport Community Theatre

This year’s selected plays are:

  • Candy Store by James McLindon (Northampton, MA)
  • Timeshare by Judy Klass (Nashville, TN)
  • Letter to the Editor, 1971 by Brian Cox (Ypsilanti, MI)
  • The Actress by Ryan Kaminski (Flemington, NJ)
  • Hello by Dana Leslie Goldstein (Brooklyn, NY)

Note on Casting

We welcome performers of all backgrounds, identities, and levels of experience. While some roles in the selected plays may reference specific ages or genders, casting decisions will be based on talent, fit for the role, and the director’s vision—not strictly on demographics.

Actors will be reading from the scripts, which include male and female roles for performers from their 20s through their 70s.

We strongly encourage actors of all ethnicities, gender identities, and abilities to audition. Resumes and headshots are preferred but not required.
