Eastbound Theatre presents it first play of the season. The play is set in the Midlands of Ireland, and involves two farmers, Anthony and Rosemary, who live next to each other. Rosemary has been romantically interested in Anthony her entire life. Anthony, who is shy and unaware of Rosemary’s feelings, dislikes farming, so his father intends to leave the farm to a nephew. A compassionate, delightful play.
Pulitzer Prize, Oscar and Tony award-winning playwright/screenwriter John Patrick Shanley is known for his plays Doubt: A Parable (Pulitzer and Tony), Italian American Reconciliation and Danny and the Deep Blue Sea. His screenplays include Moonstruck (Academy Award), Joe Versus the Volcano and the film adaptation of Outside Mullingar entitled Wild Mountain Thyme, which he also directed and was released in 2020.
This sweetly sentimental tale of rejection, forgiveness, anger, misunderstanding, secrets, and affection is beautifully told, with dollops of creamy laughter to balance the bitterness of mistaken mischief… Will Tony ultimately deny his son his rightful property? Can Rosemary persuade Anothony to acknowledge all she has to offer him? Will true love triumph? This all too familiar family feud is sensitively directed by Richard Mancini. -by Bonnie Goldberg, Connecticut Critics Circle
(Tony) is happy to return to Eastbound with this wonderful play and cast. Other Eastbound credits include: Mr. Lockhart in The Seafarer, Victor Fleming in Moonlight and Magnolias and Schmendiman in Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Jessup in A Few Good Men, Elyot in Private Lives, Gov. Danforth in The Crucible, and Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock's Last Case, all in Westport. His favorite productions are his children Philip and Ellie, produced with his wife Marilyn.
(Anthony) is honored to return to Eastbound after a long hiatus. Johnny was last seen here in an East West Playfest and as Freddy in Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Johnny has acted, stage managed, directed and produced at several local theaters in the tri-state area including the Vagabond Theater Company, Orange Players and Center Stage Community Playhouse in the Bronx. Johnny is a proud “childless cat lady” who lives in Milford with his best buddy, Mickey. He would like to thank his coworkers at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, along with friends and family for their unwavering support and love.
(Rosemary) is excited to return to Eastbound Theater after performing in last season's Silent Sky, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Other credits include Mae West in What's Your Problem at the John Houseman Theater, Joanne in Company and Mrs. Paroo in The Music Man with The Strawhat Players. She studied theatre at Emerson College, Boston and enjoyed performing sketch comedy with the Splinter Group. In NYC, Molly practiced improv comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Training Center. She thanks her husband Jeremy for all his love and support.
(Aoife) is thrilled to be back at the MAC/Eastbound theatre. She has recently worked with the Shoreline Playwrights performing at Drama Works of Old Saybrook. Elise studied acting at Boston University, earned a BS in educational theatre and developmental psychology from New York University and has a master’s degree in education from Sacred Heart University. She attended HB Studios in Manhattan and has performed in Off and Off-Off Broadway productions, TV, radio, commercials and independent films. She teaches theatre and psychology and writes children’s plays. Elise has served as drama director for Hale-Ray High School, Old Saybrook High School and currently at Corpus Christi School. She is grateful for her husband and daughter’s support.
(Director) is thrilled to helm the first show of the MAC/Eastbound Theatre’s 30th anniversary season having been active here since 1995.
