Brianna Thomas is a multi-talented jazz vocalist whose artistry has captivated audiences worldwide. Recognized by Vanity Fair, The New York Times, NPR, and Rolling Stone, she is celebrated for her vocal virtuosity, scat mastery, and impeccable phrasing. DownBeat Magazine praised her for “giving the impression of inventing the song in the moment, as if it’s never been done before.”
On this special day, Brianna will perform two concerts—an afternoon matinee at 3:00pm and an evening show at 7:30pm—bringing her powerhouse voice and electrifying ensemble to the MAC stage. Audiences can expect stirring renditions of favorites like Everybody Knows, The Very Thought of You, and Bye Bye Blackbird.

Brianna Thomas – Vocalist. A dynamic and evocative singer from Peoria, Illinois, Brianna Thomas has earned international acclaim for her vocal virtuosity, scat mastery, and emotional depth.
Her Roots. Beginning her career at age six with her father’s band, Brianna toured Europe by twelve and became the youngest inductee into the African-American Hall of Fame Museum in Peoria. She went on to win the New York City Jazzmobile Vocal Competition and has since performed with legends including Wynton Marsalis, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Russell Malone, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and the Count Basie Orchestra.
Performer. Brianna has appeared on stages around the world, from Jazz at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall to festivals and tours with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Steve Miller. She also leads her own acclaimed ensemble, The Brianna Thomas Band—an electrifying group featuring Conun Pappas (piano), Marvin Sewell (guitar), Ryan Berg (bass), Fernando Saci (percussion), Curtis Nowosad (drums), and Greg Ward (saxophone). Together for nearly a decade, their seamless synergy and bold improvisation create performances rooted in Black American Music and world influences. Their 2020 album Everybody Knows was named Best of the Best Album of the Year by DownBeat Magazine.
Recognition. Brianna’s career has been marked by both artistic and community honors. She won the prestigious New York City Jazzmobile Vocal Competition, was the youngest inductee into the African-American Hall of Fame Museum in Peoria, and in 2023, the City of Pittsburgh proclaimed “Brianna Thomas Day” in celebration of her artistry and contributions to jazz. Her 2020 album Everybody Knows was named Best of the Best Album of the Year by DownBeat Magazine, further establishing her as one of the leading voices of her generation.
