About Milford’ Poet Laureate Program. Begun in 2016, the role of the Poet Laureate is to elevate poetry in the consciousness of Milford, CT residents and to help celebrate the literary arts. The past Milford Poet Laureates were Mick Theebs and Joan Glass. The Poet Laureate is an honorary, two-year position, with the term to begin September, 2024. During the two-year term, the Poet Laureate will act as an advocate for poetry, literature and the arts and will contribute to the City’s poetry and literary legacy through public readings and participation in civic events. The Poet Laureate may also propose and lead community projects.
